Terry has over 30 years of experience as a therapist and a horsewoman and is the creative force behind Great Strides. After receiving her MSW at NYU, she worked at Yale Psychiatric Institute specializing in treatment resistant adolescents. She later provided outpatient mental health treatment prior to relocating to Maryland, where she became the Child and Adolescent Program Manager for Prince George’s County.
Terry was active in the emergence of the field of equine facilitated learning and has presented at numerous conferences. She is an Eponaquest Instructor, trained by Linda Kohanov. Terry is also a certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH). In 2007, she received recognition as PATH Instructor of the Year for her region.
Since 1999, Great Strides has offered an array of services tailored to the needs of our clients. Our approach is based on positive interactions that are mutually beneficial for both the horse and the individual. We take time to learn who you are and what you/your horse needs. The relaxed atmosphere of our Village cultivates an environment of collaboration, learning and fun!
Great Strides recently moved to a new facility in Woodbine, MD. We are now operating at the picturesque Harwood Farm, located at 3666 Jennings Chapel Road, Woodbine, MD.
